Rick Brandl is the Senior Director of Service Operations for Medtronic Surgical Technologies, a division of Medtronic.
Rick is responsible for global field and factory service, technical service, contact centers and the service program management office. In addition to his day job, he oversees the Service Operations Council for all of Medtronic with the goal of improving service across the newly integrated Medtronic and Covidien teams. Over his career, Rick has worked in most business functions directly and enjoys taking a broad multi-functional view of issues and bringing a global mindset to service. He has a passion for continuous improvement and in getting projects across the finish line. Prior to joining Medtronic, he spent 19 years at Datex-Ohmeda/GE Healthcare in the USA and Finland in a variety of positions focused on anesthesia machines and patient monitoring.
His current focus is to further the Medtronic Mission of alleviating pain, restoring health and extending life by improving customer satisfaction, growing the Medtronic service business and developing the next generation of service leaders.

Thomas Ruggia is the World Wide Vice President of Customer Experience for Johnson & Johnson Vision Surgical. Thomas leads a team responsible for technical service, customer service, global product engineering, and global customer strategy. Johnson & Johnson Vision is a world leader in the eye with focus on surgical capital equipment, intra-ocular lenses, dry eye devices, contact lenses, and contact lens care. Thomas joined Johnson & Johnson with the Janssen Pharmaceutical Companies in 2015. During this time, Tom developed commercial strategy for the retina cell therapy, PALUCORCEL.

In his current role at Philips, Ivars and his team are responsible for developing comprehensive solutions (including software, analytics and professional services) for the healthcare imaging space.
Prior to it, he has led a service marketing group responsible for a suite of services, from maintenance contracts to asset management, to analytics, to education, for Olympus Americas. Ivars also has held marketing leadership roles with other healthcare industry leaders, such as Teleflex and Bayer, as well as a small entrepreneurial company specializing in minimally-invasive surgical instrumentation.
He received his undergraduate degree in International Business from Riga Technical University (Riga, Latvia) and an MBA from NIU (DeKalb, IL, USA).

Mike Busdicker is the System Director of Clinical Engineering Services at Intermountain Healthcare. This non-profit IDN consist of 23 hospitals, 185 clinics, homecare services, and is based in Salt Lake City, Utah. As the System Director of Clinical Engineering, Mike oversees Healthcare Technology Management operations for the entire healthcare system. This includes over 110 full-time CE employees, 96,000 pieces of biomedical and laboratory equipment, and over 3,500 imaging devices.
Mike started his healthcare career with the United States Air Force as a graduate of the DOD Biomedical Equipment Repair School in May 1983. His total military service included seven years of active duty and 20 years with the Wisconsin Air National Guard. During his military time he served as a Biomedical Technician, First Sergeant, and Human Resource Advisor, completed an operational deployment to Iraq, and achieved the highest enlisted rank of Chief Master Sergeant.
Mike received his Bachelors and Master’s Degree in Business from Baker College in Flint, Michigan. Prior to his employment with Intermountain he has held leadership positions with Independent Service Organizations and In-house HTM Programs. Kelly O’Neal is the Director of Service and Field Operations where he leads the commercial management and implementation strategies of service at Monteris Medical.
Kelly started his career as a field specialist at BrainLAB Inc. and quickly moved into a senior field role before moving into field management. Since then, he has held management positions in clinical sales, customer support, and now field service at Monteris Medical. He has been instrumental in “small company” strategic implementation within many departments at Monteris, including sales, marketing, business development, training, and now customer service and operations. Kelly has been involved in service and clinical sales for over 12 years.

His experience led him to an engineering position with Ciba-Corning Diagnostics. He has held the position of Regional Service Manager and Technical Sales Manager for Chiron & Bayer Healthcare. He held the role of National Technical Sales Director at Siemens and was a Zone Vice President in the Midwest & Western Zones for both the In Vivo and In Vitro businesses prior to taking on his recent role as Vice President, Head of Field Service for LD/POC.
Ron was awarded Rookie of the Year, Regional Manager & Director of the year, a three time President’s Club award winner and VP of the Year and a four time APEX winner while in his Service and Technical Sales Leadership positions. Susan Wills is the Director of Strategic Sourcing and Contracts for the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute in Boston, Massachusetts. She has been in her current position for five years.
Susan has worked as the Director of Materials Management, covering departments such as purchasing, contracts, sterile central, courier, mailroom, print shop, medical equipment management, patient transport, warehouse, receiving and inventory control, for over 25 years in both Massachusetts and New Hampshire community hospitals.

Jeff Bonnell is the VP of Industry Solutions at Coresystems. Jeff has played a key role optimizing service and asset performance, safety, and compliance for manufacturing (including many FDA validated pharma and medical technology companies), energy, telecommunication and utility companies in more than 20 countries. In addition to holding leadership roles in product and solution management, service delivery, marketing and strategy with technology and service providers, Jeff has extensive experience as an engineer, manager, consultant, project manager, and solution architect in industry.
Jeff has developed and teaches an Asset Knowledge Management course that is offered as part of an Asset Management Certification program for Plant Engineering and Maintenance Association of Canada (PEMAC) in 2016. Jeff held volunteer positions with PEMAC and the School for Social Entrepreneurship, where he acted as a mentor for new entrepreneurs developing social enterprises.

In her 22-year design career, Jody has created just about everything from holograms to physical products and R&D for over 100 companies. Today, she is Director of Design for Singularity University Labs, where she incubates solutions to Global Grand Challenges using exponential technologies.
She’s spent the last 7 years on AR/VR, most notably as Principal Experience Designer on the HoloLens Project at Microsoft and Principal UX at LEAP Motion. Previously, she co-founded and directed Kicker Studio, a design consultancy specializing in Natural User Interface and R&D for companies including Intel, Samsung, Microsoft, and DARPA.
Jody is also a practicing artist with an MFA in Painting and Design & Technology from the San Francisco Art Institute. She’s a collaborator with the art crew Five Ton Crane, and builds robots and rockets in her spare time.

Jennifer Fried is the CEO and Co-Founder of ExplORer Surgical. Jennifer founded the company with Dr. Alex Langerman as an MBA student at the University of Chicago Booth School of Business, where she received her degree with honors in Finance and Entrepreneurship.
Previously, Jennifer was a Vice President at Park Lane Ventures, a healthcare-focused venture capital fund spun out of Essex Woodlands. For over two years, she was the only non-managing director as part of a four-person investor team led by three of the most experienced healthcare venture capitalists in the industry, each of whom have been practicing early stage venture capital investing for over two decades. She also served as healthcare associate at Hyde Park Angels, during which time she was sourcing, diligencing, and evaluating early-stage healthcare businesses in the Chicago area. Jennifer began her career as a consultant at Bain & Company in Chicago after graduating from Northwestern University.
Jennifer has received numerous accolades for her professional, academic, and extracurricular participation. She and ExplORer Surgical have been featured in periodicals like the Chicago Tribune, Wall Street Journal , and Crain’s Chicago Business . In October, the ExplORer Surgical team won a Chicago Innovation Award, the Up-and-Comer award. Recently, Jennifer’s pitch led ExplOrer Surgical to win First Place in the MedTech Innovator Midwest Region. Previously, she led the ExplORer Surgical team to a 2nd place finish at the Chicago Booth New Venture Challenge, which is listed in the top 10 accelerators in the country.
Jennifer has been named a Fellow of the competitive two-year Kauffman Fellows program and was named a Herman Family Fellow by the Polsky Center for Entrepreneurship and Innovation. She received a $70,000 Forte Fellow scholarship that paid a portion of her tuition at Chicago Booth. She received a $2,500 annual prize from the University of Chicago Women’s Business Group, recognizing her as an MBA student likely to advance the interests and achievements of women. He has over 27 years of field service experience and started out as a field engineer servicing surgical lasers. Before BD Don spent 17 years at GE Healthcare and worked in Clinical Services, Healthcare IT, Diagnostics and Life Sciences.
He was Six Sigma Master Black Belt certified at GE Healthcare. Don holds both an MBA and a PhD in Information Technology.

Marlene Kolodziej is a recognized leader in the development and implementation of customer-focused transformative technology and support solutions, with over three decades of experience in end-user, infrastructure, network, data center, programming/development, and applications experience. Currently, she is the Assistant Vice President of Service Delivery for Northwell Health in Long Island, New York, providing leadership in the areas of Field Support, Help Desk, Video and Web Conferencing, Mobility, Telehealth, and Innovation.
Ms. Kolodziej has broad industry experience, including chemical, publishing, finance, data retention and storage, and healthcare, with a focus on leading and directing global technology and business teams to implement innovative client support solutions that increase standardization, strengthen the organization, and decrease maintenance costs. She has provided strategic worldwide client support services, call center, operations, disaster recovery, and infrastructure management, with a focus on driving operational excellence to ensure that service levels and performance are met or exceeded.
Ms. Kolodziej holds a Bachelor’s degree in Information Sciences, a Master’s degree in Business Administration, and is currently finishing her Doctorate in Business Administration.

A director of Engineering Solutions for Wind River, Scott Slomba is a 30-year veteran in the real-time embedded computer industry, with over 18 years of technical management positions running various field based support and service organizations. Scott has worn many technical hats throughout his career, from software developer and support engineer to technical trainer and field application engineer.
Scott holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science from University of Massachusetts Lowell and a Master of Science degree in Computer Science from Northeastern University.
Rama is a daredevil, a people person and a scientist (UMD, MIT, Applied Materials) all rolled into one. He loves getting technical, but also tremendously enjoys empathizing with the customer through simple, clear communication, and driving efficiency, something he considers his forte.
